Nia is a mind-body movement practice that combines dance, martial arts and the healing arts into a fun, inspiring cardio workout. Nia is extremely low-impact – there’s no jumping or bouncing, but you get a fantastic cardio workout. Time flies because it's beautiful, fun and funny. You emerge sweaty, refreshed and delighted. All bodies are loved and accepted in Nia regardless of gender, ability or fitness level.
Paula Chambers, Ph.D., is an award-winning educator who teaches Nia in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. Having experienced many dance forms as an amateur dancer and performer, she was blown away when she discovered Nia with its emphasis on pleasure, sensation, and personal self-healing. Today as a Nia Black Belt, Paula teaches in three locations and infuses her classes with imagery, humor and compassion. She also mentors new teachers and produces Nia trainings and special events.
